Team Philosophy The Waterford Black Widows know they have 4 priorities as a player: God, Family, School, and Softball. One never supercedes the other. A strong mind and body both physically and spiritually is what the players have instilled in themselves. “We are not trying to build just softball players, we are trying to build future leaders in our surrounding communities.” Coach Thompson stresses. “Do I think these girls have talent to play collegiately? Yes I do. However without the grades and character they won’t stand a chance and that’s where the coach’s job begins.” The Black Widows know that offense puts people in the stands but pitching and defense wins championships. They know to be smart players on defense and on the base paths. Winning is not the sole priority, the coaches want their players to ultimately have fun, that’s what it’s all about. |
